About SecondRender

SecondRender (sometimes written 2nd Render) is an AI rendering platform for architects. It turns sketches, SketchUp and Revit models into photorealistic architectural renders in about 30 seconds.

How it started

SecondRender was not a tech idea looking for a market. An architect saw ContentMaschine.ai, an earlier AI product by founder Marcus Horndt, and asked whether it could render CAD models into photorealistic images. The answer was yes, and within days it was clear that architects needed their own interface. The first working version took two weeks. The real product grew from there, built together with practicing architects, iteration by iteration.

That origin still shapes how the product is made. Every feature exists because a practicing architect needed it, usually with a deadline attached. The first customers came from traditional rendering workflows: hours per render, days to weeks spent on materials, lights and shadows. What convinced them was seeing photorealistic renders of their own designs in seconds.

Who is behind it

Marcus Horndt is a solofounder and author who builds practical digital products at the intersection of code, creativity, and human connection. A former jazz pianist, he does the engineering himself, runs the product demos himself, and answers the support questions himself. SecondRender is one of several products he has built and operates.

The conviction behind SecondRender is simple: a great design deserves to be seen as it was imagined. The quality of an architect's presentation should be determined by the design, not by the rendering budget.
